hi, i'm ranvir.
I've spent my whole career in property. It taught me one thing: conveyancing doesn't need to be complicated. So at RUMA, it isn't.
I grew up in Malaysia and moved to Australia at 17 to study law. RUMA comes from rumah, the Malay word for house.
A home is the biggest thing most people will ever buy. The legal side of it should feel just as solid, and a lot less stressful.
12+ years. every side of the deal.
I've never left property. Each step taught me something most conveyancers never see.
I started as a conveyancer because, as a migrant graduate, that was the door that opened. It turned out to be the best place to learn how property really works. Six months later I was promoted to lawyer, and I never left property.
From a conveyancing practice to senior property lawyer at a commercial firm. A lot of my work was in complex property matters, as well as mortgagee-in-possession matters, so I saw first-hand what happens when a property deal goes wrong.
I joined AFCA, set up after the Banking Royal Commission, working on property and responsible-lending complaints. I saw how loans are judged, and how people lose their savings on the wrong property, like investors who bought in mining towns and lost everything.
Inside one of the big banks, working in legal and marketing, I learned exactly what banks can and can't say, and how they look at a property deal from the other side of the table.
In 2019 I opened my own conveyancing practice. Today it's RUMA Legal, built on everything I've learned along the way.
conveyancing isn't an add-on. it's the part that protects you.
Too often it's treated as paperwork that gets bolted on at the end, and it gets made far more complicated than it needs to be.
At RUMA it's front and centre. Fixed fees, plain English, and you always know what happens next. Straightforward conveyancing, so the whole buying journey is straightforward too.
